Does government massage numbers?  Yes they do and they have many reasons for doing so.  Obviously they would not state that fact but it is widely acknowledged by anyone in the investing community.  The official numbers for unemployment and inflation are a joke.

So then, what are the real numbers?  John Williams provides a service which essentially reconstructs government stats using methods employed by our government in the past (before all the serious manipulation began).
